Closed Moss Terrarium : These are self-sustaining ecosystems that mimic damp forest walls and rocks.

How They Work
• Enclosed Ecosystem: Closed containers trap moisture, creating a miniature water cycle where evaporated water condenses on the glass and drips back down into the soil.
• Low Maintenance: Because they recycle their own water, closed moss terrariums require very little watering—often only once every few months.
• High Humidity: Mosses thrive in the damp, humid, and low-light environments that enclosed glass vessels provide.

Light: Place your terrarium in a bright area with indirect sunlight,

• Bright, indirect light: Place your terrarium near a north- or east-facing window, or a few feet away from a bright window.
• Artificial light: Moss thrives exceptionally well under LED grow lights or standard fluorescent desk lamps left on for 8 to 12 hours a day.
• No direct sunlight: Direct sun acts like a greenhouse, magnifying heat through the glass and scorching the moss in a matter of hours.

Water :

• Use the right water: Always water with distilled water, rainwater, or reverse osmosis (RO) water. Moss is highly sensitive to the chlorine and minerals found in tap water, which can turn it brown.
• How to water: Use a spray bottle to gently mist the moss. Avoid pouring water directly into the container, as pooling water causes root rot and mold.
• Closed Terrariums: Only need water every 2 to 4 months.

Look at the glass:

• Perfect: A light fogging or a few water droplets on one side of the glass in the morning.
• Too Dry: No condensation at all and the moss feels crunchy. (Add a few sprays of water).
• Too Wet: Heavy fogging or large water droplets clouding the entire jar. (Leave the lid off for a day to evaporate the excess moisture).
