Bunny Ear Cactus in Ceramic Pot
Bunny Ear Cactus (Opuntia microdasys) : This cactus has a cuddly name but will instantly remind you of the Wild wide west! Planted in an Indian made ceramic pot, this cactus is a beauty to behold with its polka dotted green pads.
Light : Place it it full light. Great plants for open terraces and west facing open balconies.
Soil : Sandy soil with excellent drainage.
Watering : Very low watering. These are drought resistant. Water once in 3 days in summer and space it even further (up to a week) during monsoon and winter.
Feeding : A weak all purpose feed once a month is more than sufficient.
Repotting : This is not normally needed, but if the plant has produced lots of offsets or it has outgrown its pot it's a good idea to repot in Spring.
Propagation : In spring, you can pick any fully grown pad and plant it in sand to propagate.
Speed of Growth : Slow.
General Tips : The wooly dots on the pad are irritable to skin and is best to handle with care during propagation or movement of the plant.
